Presenter and Sponsor of Fine Music and Music Education

The Bay Area Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) professional corporation as described in section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Franchise Tax Code.


PURPOSE - Mission Statement

The specific and primary purpose for which this corporation is formed is to provide support for music performance and music education projects.  This corporation shall establish and maintain a symphony orchestra in the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area specializing in the presentation of free Youth Concerts in the public schools designed to introduce children and young people to fine music and to provide education for music appreciation.  This corporation may also establish maintain and/or support other music performance ensembles and music education projects as approved by the board of directors of this corporation.

The general purposes and powers are:

  1. To promote interest in symphony, ensemble, and/or choral music by presenting concerts and/or music education programs for young audiences and the general public.
  2. To give public performances as often as it is considered desirable by the conductor and board of directors of this corporation.
  3. To engage in all musical activities commonly associated with a symphony orchestra and/or the other music ensembles established or supported by this corporation.

HISTORY

The Bay Area Music Foundation, formerly the Bay Area Little Symphony, was founded December 17, 1975 and is the only fully professional orchestra that has been providing FREE in-school concerts for children around the Bay Area since its inception.

DIRECTION

The Bay Area Music Foundation is currently comprised of professional musicians from all around the Bay Area, and continues to perform for family concerts, community events, and school groups.  BAMF has expanded its scope to include sponsorship of educational and/or performance organizations.
